To-Go Mats are delivered in our Level 2 intensity that can be dialed down by laying it on a softer surface or wearing a thin top – or dialed up by laying it on a harder surface or spikes straight to skin.
The To-Go Mat delivers the same signature Shakti spikes and acupressure benefits as a full-size mat, but in a foam-free, travel-ready format. At 0.7 lbs and 40% of the size, it's designed to complement your home practice when you're away – not replace it. Without the foam, it adapts to the surface you lie on, so the intensity will vary depending on where you use it.
Use it the same way you would a full Shakti Mat – bare skin is best, deep breaths will help you through the initial discomfort, and 20 minutes is all it takes. Lie it on your hotel bed or a sun lounger for a familiar feel, or place it on a harder surface to dial up the intensity. Once unrolled, tuck the pouch into itself to reveal the Shakti logo and create a pocket for stuffing a shirt inside as a makeshift pillow or headrest. When you're done, roll it up from the bottom with the spikes facing inward and secure it with the elastic loops.

Almost any surface works. Your hotel bed or a padded lounger will give you a feel closest to your full mat at home. A harder surface – bare floor, firm ground, or carpet – will intensify the sensation. Outdoors, grass and sand both work well. Just be mindful that the firmer the surface, the more intense the experience, so adjust accordingly if you're still building your practice.
The To-Go Mat is compact enough to fit in your carry-on, but it's best used at your destination rather than in the air. For in-flight relief, try rolling it up and placing it behind your lower back as a makeshift lumbar support – it won't be your best session, but it'll take the edge off a long-haul flight.
The Classic and Premium Mats are your home practice – foam-filled, full-size, and built for long, deep sessions. The To-Go Mat is built for everything in between. Same spikes, no foam, and a fraction of the size. If you're new to acupressure and deciding where to start, we'd recommend beginning with a Classic or Premium Mat before adding the To-Go Mat to your toolkit.
No – the To-Go Mat works as a standalone product. That said, it's designed with regular Shakti users in mind, so if you're completely new to acupressure, starting with a full Premium or Classic Mat at home will help you build a practice before taking it on the road.

I have a full size mat and love it, so got the travel one for when I go away
I was really excited there was a travel version. I used to bring my standard mat and remove the cushion when travelling. I think that was a better experience because it covers your whole back. This is too small and it feels like I should do a double session to cover my whole back. It is really nicely designed though.

I have been using my Shakti mat on/off for 5 years and it has been apart of my nightly routine for the last year. I brought a travel mat so I can continue my routine while I’m in hotels. It’s robust and thick material so I don’t have to worry about the integrity of the mat. Love how it is not heavy and does not take up precious suitcase room.
I thought that this purchase would be useful, firstly for travel, being smaller, lighter and easier to transport than the full sized version, and secondly would allow a feel for the Level 2 experience.
Using the mat on a mattress feels much like the Level 1 mat on a firm floor.
I have always taken my classic on holiday as I couldn’t be without my Shakti time now so jumped at the chance of the travel version. The fabric is stiffer than the other models so holds its shape without the need for the mattress insert and it rolls up effortlessly into the top ‘self’ pocket keeping it secure and is perfectly space saving for travel. I’ve always worried about my case being checked through customs and someone hurting themselves if they encountered my mat, I don’t need to worry anymore. Thank you for making this perfect solution.
